All religions basically have the same teachings and therefore people can reach heaven by following any of the routes (religions)!
Answer: Although all the religions basically teach in different routes or ways to develop the moral values as the keys to the peace and prosperity in this world, with due respect can we ask whether there is any convincing proof existing that all those different routes or pathways have been approved by God? Then, the next question would be what sort of proof? It is the written document of higest level of authenticity revealed by God, in which He defined clearly the only acceptable route to Him for human beings. If we do not have it (i.e., the holy book), the route (i.e. the particular religion) we have chosen based on our own conjecture or interpretation or as a result of family biasness, might be unacceptable to God. So, what should be our responsibility? We need to search that authentic holy book in this world, or if our friend or colleague says that he/she has it, we might be fortunate to get it, read it and justify it. Now, I would like to add from my side as I have already been convinced that it is Al-Quran- the only authentic book of God now existing. Now where is the evidence in Al-Quarn stating that only one religion is acceptable to Him?
Verse 85 of Chapter 3:
And if one seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted from him; and he is among the losers in the Hereafter.
There were many other holy books of God before Al-Quran. The Jews and Christians would claim that they have, but the reality is that in the very past they themselves changed significantly the words of God for their wordly interests, as also indicated in Al-Quran by God. There are people of other religions, who said that they also read Al-Quran and they are still following their own religions. Then if you ask them to describe the basic features or lessions of Al-Quran, why are they not able to answer? This is because they simply read it without going into the depth and without having an open mind.

Now, what was the main objective of God for the creation of the human beings? Will God be happy if human beings live in peace and prosperity in this world, irrespective of the available routes they follow? Or does He want to test us whether we are following the specific route He prescribed for all human beings through the Holy book and the messenger?
What will happens if we are not serious to find out the right pathway or even though we find the right route, we do not like to follow it? Depending on our activities in this world, we will get the reward in this world from God. It means that (as an example) by following another route (not prescribed by God), you might develop many moral values which make you polite, honest and responsible. God might help you in this world to achieve mental peace and so on, so that you become apparently happy here. Similarly, people who are not following any religion, but working hard to establish in this world, God also might help them to fulfill their dreams. However, because they are not following according to the route as determined by God. they will have no reward following their deaths. After death, all the people will be regenerated and brought together on the Day of Judgement. Based on the judgement by God on the basis of whether they have followed the straight pathway or not in the world, people will go to the Heaven or Hell. Most of the people in this world love the worldly life and therefore either do not believe the hereafter or prefer this wordly life to the life in hereafter.
Why should peole follow the right pathway and do the good deeds in this world? It is firstly because people will have no option but stay in the fire for ever without having a single chance to come back to the world to do good deeds, if they do not try to find out or follow the righ path in this world. Secondly, if people fear God in this world for His severe and ever-lasting punishment in hereafter and become grateful to Him in return for His countless favours bestowed upon us, by doing the good deeds according to His directions (right pathway), they will stay in Heaven for ever, where they find and enjoy everything they want.
In the very beginning, human beings were under the umbrella of one religion and subsequently and gradually they invented many routes of their interests deviating from the original route. God says in Al-Quran:
Verses 52-56 of Chapter 23:
And lo! this your religion is one
religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. But they
(mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects,
each group rejoicing in its tenets. So leave them in their error till
a time. Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide
them. We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive
not.
Instead of God's invitation to His pathway and His repeated warnings of fire, why are people still in heedlessness? This is because they do not have fear for God and are happy with their life styles, traditions and religions. They love their existing faiths more than God who created them, protect them and give sustenance all the time. They believe that they are in the right pathway and do not like to justify by going through His messages with purity. Is this not our arrogance or ungratefulness to Him considering His countless favours to us?
Who work for their true welfare?
Verses 57-61 of Chapter 23:
Verily, those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; And
those who believe in the Ayat (revelations) of their Lord; And those who join
not anyone as partners with their Lord; And those who give that
which they give with their hearts full of fear, because they are sure to
return to their Lord. It is these who hasten in the good deeds,
and they are foremost in them.
