Why will God punish people on the Day of Judgement for the deeds He (God) does not like, since God is so kind?

One day, one of my colleagues said, "I do not believe that God will punish people on the Day of Judgement for the deeds He (God) does not like. God is so kind." At that time I replied saying if God is very kind, why does He punish people in the earth for their evil deeds, citing one case of my close person? Many people will strongly disagree with me, asking why innocent people are also punished or suffered in this world. With due respect to all of them, I would like to explain why I think God is not only kind, but also hard or strict to punish.

In a family, society or state, there are rules imposed on the members to achieve something. For example, parents impose restrictions on their children. Why? They feel that those rules will be helpful for proper development of their children. Why do parents have such rights? Mother carried the baby in her womb with tremendous hardship, delivered it and took care. Naturally driven, both mother and father do everything for the development of the baby. So, the child should be grateful to the parents. When the child knowingly disobeys the parents, they should have the right to take action out of anger (within the boundary of the laws of the country they are living in). Similarly, people should follow the rules of their community or their country which provides a lot of support or facilities to them. People should remain grateful for those benefits. If anyone violates any rule, he or she becomes ungrateful and so deserves punishment. So, punishment is directly related to ungratefulness, and foundation of human civilization is partly based on this pillar, which indirectly discourages other people to commit irregularity or offence.
The next question is whether God had any role in establishment of human civilization. If anyone says that human beings are the sole contributor to their civilization, it indicates that either the person does not believe in God or considers that God has limited power. But, if you believe that God has supreme power over everything, you should say that God is the Mastermind behind it. So, punishment to maintain the civilization is approved by God. In other words, God is kind to good people and unkind to bad people. Overall, this is the reflection that God is merciful (kind) to human beings. The evil deeds by people or an authority can affect other people as well. This is also approved by God; otherwise evil things would disappear. The entitle human beings would live in peace. But., God did not want that, rather He put all humans on trials, giving them adequate freedom to choose the right and wrong pathways. In my earlier post, I explained why we can not ask God for His actions or decisions or plans.
Since God provides everything for sustenance of human beings and offers special favors to human community, they need to be immensely grateful to God. Otherwise, according to the same 'ungratefulness-punishment' relationship, God Himself will punish for the bad deeds in this world as well as the Hereafter.
